Dagbog fra Canada, indledning før afrejse - Diary from Canada

Artikel på dansk

Article in English, below

The countdown has started – We will try to send from British Columbia (BC).

We hope it will be possible to make a diary as we did the last time we were in Canada just like the one we did in week 29 in Gaule this summer – however it will be without images which will come after we have returned to Denmark. In addition to the diary there will probably be material on Facebook.

Although there are more than 14 days to departure the 29th of September the trip occupies our minds for example at mental and physical preparation, packing, fly tying, preparation of gear and so much more – in fact the trip has occupied our minds for the better part of a year.

We arrive Friday the 29th of September in the evening in Smithers, BC and with a weekend with no fishing because of the Canadian legislations there will be a couple of days to settle in and to get over our jetlag and celebration of my birthday the next day, Saturday. We will be seeing Smithers and Bulkey River before it is Monday the 2nd of October and by legislations we are allowed to start “hunting” the Steelheads.

When we in 2012 visited the little town Fort Twelka, 10 km outside Smithers on a vacation we met this sign – I suppose it was the usual advertisement and it sounded even somewhat exaggerated.

We should, however, become smarter and not at least it became a kind of cornerstone for our further fishing for Steelheads in Canada. The Bulkey River runs in a stunning nature and a world class place when fishing for Steelheads.

Here are some links as a warm up from last time. The diary from our trip two years ago is also there – it might not be of much but the interest is there - so go check it out. Otherwise there are information about the flies and fish from the trip as well as information on the flies we are bringing this year and how they are tied.
